Girls Engineering Day 2018

Girls Engineering Day is an event to introduce middle school and high schools girls to a variety of transportation engineering-related careers.

More than 125 girls attended the fourth annual Girls Engineering Day in Orange County to practice thinking like an engineer and connect with professional engineers. College course paths were discussed through interactive Q&A sessions and there were various speakers throughout the event. In addition, more than 90 volunteers from numerous transportation-related civil and structural engineering firms mentored the girls on various elements of transportation planning and engineering through fun and informative hands-on activities.

The WTS-OC Transportation YOU committee worked with chapter members’ firms to solicit donations, including reprographics services, promotional items to give away and cash donations to purchase lunches for the students. The Anaheim Union High School District donated bus transportation for students, computers, classroom space and other school facilities for use during the program and technical sessions.
