Academy 2018
In 2018, 21 students representing 10 universities successfully completed the WTS-OC Transportation Academy. Over the first two weeks of August, students visited 13 public and private agencies for half-day seminars to get a firsthand look at the transportation industry, through a series of seminars and onsite tours, including live construction projects, the Los Angeles Harbor, a rail yard, tolling facilities and more.
Upon conclusion of the two-week academy, students are presented with a certificate of completion to recognize their selection for and completion of the academy. Only 25 students are selected to participate each year. Many students successfully leverage their experience in the academy to gain internships within the industry and several students have gone on to secure employment with agencies and firms they were introduced to through the academy.
