The Transportation Academy is an annual two-week immersion into different facets of the transportation industry, for undergraduates and graduate college students, hosted by the Women's Transportation Seminar, Orange County Chapter. All interested students are encouraged to apply. The Transportation Academy is open to men and women.
Students of all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to apply!
Because the transportation industry has a wide range of career options, the 2020 Transportation Academy will cover career opportunities in engineering/design, urban planning/environmental planning, and government affairs/outreach. Students will attend specialized programs with industry leaders, giving insight into careers in the transportation industry that complement their major. Students will hear from top executives in the transportation field and will experience different facets of transportation first-hand through a series of seminars.
In response to the recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Governor Gavin Newsom regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, WTS-OC has decided to hold the 2020 Transportation Academy as a virtual event. While this has required us to make modification to our typical program, we remain committed to helping students advance their careers in the transportation industry. The virtual format will still allow students to hear from industry leaders and get first-hand insight into potential careers and internships. All students are required to have access to a computer with a camera to particulate in the seminars. Phones can also be used for the video component, if needed.
The Transportation Academy will be held Monday, Aug. 3 through Friday, Aug. 7, and Monday, Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 14 for two to three hours each day. A detailed scheduled will be released upon acceptance into the program. There is no cost to students for this program.
